Kevin Kennon (born July 12, 1958, in Palos Verdes, California) is a well-known American architect. He is the Director of the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies. He was also a founding member of United Architects, a group that was a finalist in the important 2002 World Trade Center Design Competition.

About Kevin Kennon

Kevin Kennon's father, Paul A. Kennon, was also an architect. His father was even the head of the School of Architecture at Rice University.

Kevin Kennon went to Amherst College and earned a degree in literature. Later, in 1978, he studied architecture at The Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies. In 1988, he joined a big architecture company in New York called Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF). He became a partner there in 1996.

In 2002, Kevin Kennon left KPF to start his own company, Kevin Kennon Architects, in New York City. Since 2001, he has also been the director of The Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies. This Institute is a non-profit group that helps people learn about architecture.

World Trade Center Competition

As a founding member of United Architects, Kevin Kennon was a finalist in the famous 2002 World Trade Center Design Competition. This competition was organized by the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation to help rebuild the area.

Awards and Exhibitions

Kevin Kennon's work has been shown in many places, including the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. He has won major design awards from groups like the American Institute of Architects. He also received the Architectural League Young Architects Award and the Progressive Architecture Award.

Kevin Kennon helps lead the Paul Kennon Memorial Symposium at Rice University. This event honors his father. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies.
