Professional Football Career

Khalif Barnes was chosen in the second round of the 2005 NFL draft. This was a big step for his football career.

Playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars

Barnes started 12 games in his first year with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was one of only six offensive linemen in Jaguars history to start 12 or more games as a rookie. During his four years with the team, he started 57 out of 60 games. Barnes mostly played as a left tackle for the Jaguars. In this role, he often had to block the best defensive players from other teams. He was also very good at helping his team run the ball.

Playing for the Oakland Raiders

Barnes signed a contract with the Oakland Raiders on March 14, 2009. He played in several games during the 2009 NFL season, starting two games as a right tackle. The Raiders re-signed Barnes in 2010. He made the team's main roster as a guard. During the 2010 NFL season, he started 3 of 16 games. On November 7, 2010, Barnes caught his first NFL touchdown pass. This happened in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He was listed as an eligible receiver for that play. In the 2011 NFL season, he was the starting right offensive tackle. He helped the Raiders gain many rushing yards in a win against the Denver Broncos. Barnes signed another contract with the Raiders on February 28, 2014. This allowed him to continue playing for the team.

Playing for the New Orleans Saints

On August 30, 2016, the New Orleans Saints signed Barnes to a one-year deal. He was released and re-signed a few times during the 2016 season. He also re-signed with the Saints on May 15, 2017. However, he was released again on September 2, 2017.

Playing for the Arizona Cardinals

On December 12, 2017, Barnes joined the Arizona Cardinals. He was signed after another player, Jared Veldheer, got an ankle injury.
