The idea for the Kia Soul started in 2005. A designer named Mike Torpey was working for Kia in California. He was sent to South Korea to think of new car ideas.

The Wild Boar Inspiration

While in Korea, Mike Torpey watched a TV show about wild boars. He learned how important these animals are in Korean culture. They are seen as strong and capable. This gave him an idea! He drew a picture of a wild boar wearing a backpack.

A Car for City Adventures

The idea was that the boar's strong and capable attitude was perfect for a new car. This car would be for young people living in cities. It would be a car that looked tough and ready for anything, just like a wild boar.

What Makes the Kia Soul Special?

The Kia Soul is a front-engine, front-wheel-drive car. This means the engine is at the front, and it powers the front wheels. It has five doors, making it easy to get in and out.
