Kim St-Pierre, born on December 14, 1978, is a famous Canadian ice hockey player. She is known for being an amazing goaltender. Kim won three Olympic gold medals and five world championships in ice hockey. In 2020, she was chosen to join the Hockey Hall of Fame. This is a very special honor for hockey players. She also received the Order of Hockey in Canada in 2022.

Kim St-Pierre's Hockey Journey

Playing for McGill University

Kim St-Pierre started her university hockey career in 1998. She played for the McGill Martlets women's ice hockey team. In her first year, she was named the top rookie. This means she was the best new player on the team.

On November 15, 2003, Kim made history. She became the first woman to win a men's regular season game in Canadian Interuniversity Sports. Her team, McGill University, beat Ryerson University with a score of 5–2.

Playing for Team Canada

Kim St-Pierre was a key player for the Canada women's national ice hockey team. She was the starting goaltender at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. In the gold medal game, Team Canada beat Team USA 3-2. Kim helped them win the gold medal.

She also played for Canada at the Turin Olympics. Kim won another gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. She has many records in international games. These include the most shutouts (15) and most wins (24). Her goals against average (0.84) was also very low. This shows how skilled she was. Kim stopped playing international hockey in April 2013.

Playing in the CWHL

Kim St-Pierre played for the Montreal Stars in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). In the 2007-08 season, she was named the CWHL Top Goaltender. She was also chosen as a CWHL Eastern All-Star.

In 2009, she won the Clarkson Cup with the Montreal Stars. This is a very important trophy in women's ice hockey. By winning the Clarkson Cup, Kim achieved a rare feat. She became one of only three women to win the Clarkson Cup, an Olympic gold medal, and a world championship gold medal.

Kim took a break from playing in the 2011–12 season. She did this to have a baby.

Practicing with the Montreal Canadiens

On October 23, 2008, Kim St-Pierre made history again. She practiced with the Montreal Canadiens NHL team. Their regular goalie, Carey Price, was sick. Kim stepped in to help out.

She was the second woman ever to practice with NHL players. The first was Manon Rhéaume in an exhibition game. Kim wore her usual #33 jersey. She faced shots from famous players like Alexei Kovalev and Francis Bouillon. Kim said the experience was "priceless."
