The resort has a big vertical drop of 751 meters (about 2,464 feet). This means the difference between the highest point you can ski from and the lowest point is 751 meters! The very top of the mountain is 1,982 meters (about 6,503 feet) above sea level.

You can usually enjoy skiing and snowboarding here from mid-December until early April.

Skiing and Snowboarding Fun

Kimberley Alpine Resort has 80 different ski runs for all skill levels. About 20% of the runs are for beginners, 42% are for intermediate skiers, and 38% are for advanced skiers.

The resort has five different lifts to take you up the mountain. These include three chairlifts (the North Star Express, Easter, and Tamarack), one T-bar called the Owl, and a magic carpet for beginners. All these lifts can carry 6,452 people up the mountain every hour!

History of the Resort

This ski area first opened way back in 1948. Back then, it was known as North Star. It started with a simple rope tow that was 245 meters (about 804 feet) long.

About ten years later, a T-bar lift was added. This T-bar was really long, over 1.8 kilometers (about 1.1 miles). It could take skiers up 460 meters (about 1,509 feet) in just eleven minutes!

Who Runs the Resort?

Kimberley Alpine Resort is managed by a company called Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Inc.. This company also owns several other popular ski resorts.

Some of their other resorts include Fernie Alpine Resort and Nakiska, which are also in Western Canada. They also own Mont Sainte-Anne and Stoneham, which are located in Quebec, in eastern Canada.
