Kingsbury is a small town in LaPorte County, Indiana. It is located in Washington Township. You can find it northwest of where U.S. Route 35 and U.S. Route 6 meet.
The town was started in 1835. It officially became a town on March 3, 1941. During the 1940s, the Kingsbury Ordnance Plant was built nearby. This plant made things for World War II. It opened again for a short time during the Korean War. Today, parts of the plant area are now the Kingsbury Fish and Wildlife Area. Other parts are used as the Kingsbury Industrial Park. The nearby town of Kingsford Heights was built to house workers from the plant.
In 2010, 242 people lived in Kingsbury. By 2020, the population was 190. The town is part of the larger Michigan City, Indiana-La Porte, Indiana area. Kingsbury has its own fire department, called KVFD. There is also a historic First Baptist church built in 1851. It has a Greek revival style and its own graveyard. The Winchell Cemetery is also in town.
