In 1876, Judson Kingsley officially planned the village of Kingsley Station, shortening its name to Kingsley.

In 1874, Myron S. Brownson, a doctor from Steuben County, New York, bought land next to Kingsley's property. In 1882, Brownson planned his own settlement and named it Paradise. Later, in 1893, the villages of Kingsley and Paradise joined together. They became one village, keeping the name Kingsley.
