Kinross Charter Township is in the eastern part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It is about 18 miles (29 km) south of Sault Ste. Marie. It is also about 33 miles (53 km) north of St. Ignace.

The township covers a total area of about 121 square miles (313.2 km²). Most of this area is land. Only a small part, about 1.2 square miles (3.1 km²), is water.

Kincheloe

Kincheloe is in the eastern part of the township. It is located just east of Interstate 75. This area used to be part of the Kincheloe Air Force Base. The base closed down in 1977. Kincheloe has its own US Post Office.

The area known as Kinross is an unincorporated community. This means it is not a separate town or city. It is located in the eastern part of Kinross Charter Township. It is just outside of Kincheloe. The Kinross US Post Office is near Interstate 75.
