Superior Township is a special kind of local government area called a township. It's located in Chippewa County, which is in the U.S. state of Michigan. In 2020, about 1,276 people called Superior Township home.
A big part of the Bay Mills Indian Community's land is in Superior Township, just west of a place called Brimley. This community runs two casinos on its land. One of these casinos is right here in Superior Township. The money earned from these casinos helps pay for important things like education and welfare for their people. You can also find Brimley State Park within the township, right on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior.

Exploring Superior Township's Location
Superior Township is found in the northern part of Chippewa County. It covers a total area of about 104.7 square miles (271.1 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 103.0 square miles (266.7 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 1.7 square miles (4.4 square kilometers), is water.
A special natural area called the Delirium Wilderness is located a few miles south of the community of Raco. This wilderness area also stretches into Kinross Township to the south.

Brimley: A Northern Community
- Brimley is a community in the northern part of the township. It's considered an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or village. It's also a census-designated place (CDP), which is a special area the government uses to collect population information.
Raco: A Community with a Unique Name
- Raco is another unincorporated community. You can find it on M-28, about 8 miles (13 kilometers) southwest of Brimley. The name "Raco" is actually a cool acronym! It comes from the first letters of the Richardson & Avery COmpany.

Back in the year 2000, a census (a count of all the people) showed that 1,329 people lived in the township. There were 515 households and 384 families. By 2010, the population had grown a little bit to 1,337 people. The most recent count in 2020 showed the population was 1,276.
