Brimley is a small community in Chippewa County, Michigan. It's located in the Upper Peninsula, right on the southern shore of Lake Superior. In 2020, about 504 people lived there.
Brimley is known for Brimley State Park and the Bay Mills Resort & Casino. The casino is run by the Bay Mills Indian Community. Even though it's a small community without its own city government, Brimley has its own post office.

Discovering Brimley's Past
Brimley started as a train station in 1872. It was part of the Duluth, South Shore and Atlantic Railway. The community was officially mapped out in 1887.
In 1888, it got a post office and was first called Superior. The name was changed to Brimley in 1896. For the 2020 census, Brimley was listed as a new "census-designated place." This means it's a special area the government counts for population.

Brimley is in the eastern part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It sits along the south shore of Waiska Bay, which is part of Lake Superior. The Waiska River also flows into the community.
Just west of Brimley is the Bay Mills Indian Community. This area is home to the Bay Mills Resort & Casino and Bay Mills Community College. To the east of Brimley, you'll find Brimley State Park. Brimley is about 11 miles (18 km) southwest of Sault Ste. Marie.
