History of Kirkman
Kirkman began when the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad was built through the area.
The Western Town Lot Company officially started Kirkman in 1880. It became an official city in 1892. The town was named after M.M. Kirkman, who was a railroad official. The very first house built in the town was called Kirkman House.
