Kiyoshi Tomizawa (富沢 清司, born December 3, 1943) is a famous Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder or defender. Tomizawa was a key player for the Japan national team. He helped them win a bronze medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics.

Playing for Clubs

Kiyoshi Tomizawa was born in Fujieda, Japan. After finishing high school, he joined a football team called Yawata Steel. This team later changed its name to Nippon Steel.

In 1965, Yawata Steel became part of a new league. This league was called the Japan Soccer League. Tomizawa played for his club until 1976. During his time in the league, he played in 164 games. He also scored 22 goals for his team.

Playing for Japan

Tomizawa was first chosen for the Japan national team in October 1964. This was for the 1964 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo. However, he did not get to play in any games at that event.

His first game for Japan was on March 14, 1965. They played against the Hong Kong team. In 1968, he was again chosen for the Japan team. This time it was for the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City.

At the 1968 Olympics, Tomizawa played in the semifinal game against Hungary. Japan won this game and went on to win the Bronze Medal! In 2018, this amazing team was honored. They were chosen for the Japan Football Hall of Fame.

Tomizawa also played in the 1970 Asian Games. His last game for Japan was in 1971. This was during the qualifying games for the 1972 Summer Olympics. Japan did not qualify for those Olympics. Overall, he played 9 games for Japan and scored 2 goals.
