Knox is a city located in Starke County, Indiana, in the United States. It is the main city and the "county seat" of Starke County. This means it's where the county government offices are located. In 2020, about 3,662 people lived there.

History of Knox
Knox was started in 1851. It was named after a famous general from the American Revolutionary War, Henry Knox. The post office in Knox has been open for a very long time, since 1820.

Knox is located next to the Yellow River. The city covers an area of about 3.92 square miles (10.25 square kilometers), and all of it is land.
From 2014 to 2024, Knox was considered the geographic center of the Big Ten Conference. This was based on an article from 2018 that looked at locations for college basketball championships.

According to the 2010 census, there were 3,704 people living in Knox. These people lived in 1,457 households. About 35% of these households had children under 18 years old.
The average age of people in the city was 36.2 years. About 26% of the residents were under 18 years old. Also, 13.5% of the people were 65 years old or older.
Education in Knox
Knox has a public school system for its students. It includes:
- Knox Community Elementary School (for grades K-4)
- Knox Community Middle School (for grades 5-8)
- Knox Community High School (for grades 9-12)
All these schools are located at 1 Redskin Trail. The total number of students in the system is between 800 and 900.
Knox High School Band
Knox Community High School has a well-known marching band program called the Knox Redskin Brigade. They have been very successful in state competitions.
They were finalists in the I.S.S.M.A. Class D State competition in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003. They were also finalists in Class C in 1988, 1991, 1992, and 2017. In 2005, they won the Bands of America Indianapolis Regional Class A Championship. Knox High was also the first school in the nation to be named a Conn-Selmer All-American High School.
Public Library
Knox also has a public library. It is a part of the Starke County Public Library System.
Famous People from Knox
- Stuart Gorrell: He wrote the words for the famous song "Georgia on My Mind".
- Che Mah: He was known as one of the shortest men in the world during his lifetime.
- Henry F. Schricker: He served as the Governor of Indiana two times.
Local Media
- WKVI: This is a local radio station that broadcasts on 1520 AM and 99.3 FM. It has been serving the area since 1969 and is owned by Kankakee Valley Broadcasting Company.
