Koby Altman was born on September 16, 1982. He is currently the President of Basketball Operations for the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is a team in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Koby Altman's Early Life and Education
Koby Altman grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He went to Middlebury College and earned a bachelor's degree. While there, he was a starting point guard for the college basketball team for three years.
After college, Koby worked in real estate for a few years. Then, he decided to go back to school. He earned a master's degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass).
During his time at UMass, he also worked as an assistant basketball coach at Amherst College. After finishing his master's degree, Koby continued coaching college basketball. He was an assistant coach at Southern Illinois and later at Columbia.
Koby Altman's NBA Career
Koby Altman joined the Cleveland Cavaliers team office in 2012. He slowly moved up to higher positions. In 2016, he was part of the team that won the NBA Championship. He was the director of pro personnel at that time.
For the 2016–17 season, he became the assistant general manager. Then, on July 24, 2017, he was promoted to General Manager (GM). When he became GM, he was one of only a few African American and Jewish GMs in the NBA.
Koby Altman and the Cleveland Cavaliers
As General Manager, Koby Altman made many important decisions for the Cavaliers. One of his first big moves was a trade with the Boston Celtics. The Cavaliers traded star player Kyrie Irving. In return, they received players like Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder. They also got valuable draft picks.
In September 2017, Koby signed three-time NBA Champion Dwyane Wade to the team. In February 2018, he made several more trades. These trades brought new players like Rodney Hood, George Hill, Jordan Clarkson, and Larry Nance Jr. to the Cavaliers.
