Korey Jones (born April 4, 1989) is an American who used to play professional Canadian football. He was a linebacker, which is a key defensive position in football. Today, he helps train players as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Denver Broncos in the National Football League (NFL).

Korey started his college football journey at Garden City Community College. Later, he moved to the University of Wyoming. He also went to Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colorado. During his playing career, Jones was part of several teams. These included the Arizona Cardinals, BC Lions, Green Bay Packers, Florida Blacktips, Edmonton Eskimos, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Korey Jones's College Football Journey

Korey Jones began his college football career playing for the Garden City Broncbusters. He played there from 2009 to 2010. During his time, he made 108 tackles, which means he stopped the opposing team's players many times. He also had four sacks, which is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback. In 2010, his second year, he was recognized for his skills. He earned an Honorable Mention All-Conference award.

After Garden City, Jones became a key player for the Wyoming Cowboys. He played for the University of Wyoming for two years, from 2011 to 2012. In 25 games, he made a total of 162 tackles and four sacks. In 2011, he started the season playing as a defensive end. Later that season, he switched to playing as a linebacker. In 2012, his final year, his teammates chose him to be a team captain.

Playing Professional Football

After college, Korey Jones hoped to play in the NFL. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals on April 29, 2013. This happened after the 2013 NFL draft, where he was not chosen by any team. However, the Cardinals released him from the team on August 25, 2013.

In September 2013, Jones moved to Canadian football. He joined the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played with them for a while but was released on June 21, 2014.

On April 30, 2015, Jones signed with the Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL. He had a very successful year with them. He played in all 18 regular season games. He made 25 tackles on defense and 13 tackles on special teams. Most importantly, he helped the Eskimos win the Grey Cup championship that year. He was released by the team on May 29, 2016.

Jones then joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL on June 16, 2016. He played in 13 games during the 2016 season. He contributed with 18 defensive tackles and 11 special teams tackles. He also forced one fumble, which means he caused the opposing team to drop the ball.

On April 15, 2017, Jones signed with the Eskimos again. He had played with them before in the 2015 CFL season. He stayed with the Eskimos until he was released on June 24, 2019.

Jones then signed a practice roster contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. This happened on July 16, 2019. He was moved to the main team roster on August 7, 2019.
