Koshlong Lake is a beautiful lake located in Haliburton County, Ontario, Canada. It's a special part of the huge Great Lakes Basin, which means its waters eventually flow into the Great Lakes! This lake is a popular spot for nature lovers and campers, including those who visit the famous YMCA Camp Wanakita.

Exploring Koshlong Lake

Koshlong Lake is found in a scenic part of Central Ontario. It stretches across two local areas: Highlands East and Dysart et al. Most of the lake is in a place called Glamorgan Township, which is part of Highlands East. Only a small tip of the lake reaches into Dysart Township, which is part of Dysart et al.

How Water Moves Through the Lake

The main stream that brings water into Koshlong Lake is called Koshlong Creek. It flows into the lake on the east side. The same creek, Koshlong Creek, also carries water out of the lake from the southwest. This outflow is controlled by a small dam.

From Koshlong Lake, the water in Koshlong Creek flows into the Burnt River. The Burnt River then connects to the Kawartha Lakes, a chain of beautiful lakes. After that, the water travels down the Otonabee River and then the Trent River. Finally, all this water reaches Lake Ontario, one of the five Great Lakes!

YMCA Camp Wanakita

A well-known place on Koshlong Lake is the YMCA Camp Wanakita. This camp offers many outdoor activities and experiences for young people, making the lake a lively spot during the summer months.
