Kulindadromeus was a fascinating dinosaur that lived during the Jurassic period. It was a plant-eating dinosaur found in Siberia, Russia. What makes Kulindadromeus really special is that its fossils show clear signs of feather-like structures. These weren't for flying, but probably helped the dinosaur stay warm or cool, like a natural coat!
Meet Kulindadromeus
Kulindadromeus was a type of dinosaur called an ornithischian. This group includes many well-known plant-eaters like Triceratops and Stegosaurus. Kulindadromeus lived about 169 to 144 million years ago, during the Middle to Upper Jurassic period.
What Did It Look Like?
The first fossil found was only a part of its skull and lower jaw. But later, more parts of Kulindadromeus were discovered. These new fossils showed something amazing: clear signs of feather-like structures on its body!
These structures were not like the feathers of modern birds that help them fly. Instead, they were more like fluffy down feathers. Scientists believe they helped Kulindadromeus control its body temperature. This means they kept the dinosaur warm when it was cold and helped it cool down when it was hot.
Where Was It Found?
The fossils of Kulindadromeus were discovered in Siberia, which is a large region in Russia. The first discoveries happened in 2010. Since then, more fossil material has been found, helping scientists learn even more about this unique dinosaur.
