Kulpi's History
Kulpi started on land that was once part of a big farm. This farm was called Rosalie Plains. Fred Beckmann chose this spot to build. He built the first hotel, called the Pioneer Hotel. He also built a store. These buildings became the heart of the new town.
At first, the settlement was also called Rosalie. But this caused confusion. There was already a small town called Rosalie Plains Homestead. So, the name was changed to Kulpi. The name "Kulpi" comes from an Aboriginal word. It means "box tree" or "charred logs."
Kulpi State School opened its doors on August 9, 1915. It has been teaching local kids ever since.
