Kyra Gracie Guimarães, born on May 29, 1985, is a famous Brazilian athlete. She is a top competitor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), a martial art focused on grappling and ground fighting. Kyra is a member of the well-known Gracie family, who helped create BJJ. She holds a 4th-degree black belt, which is a very high rank! Kyra has won many big competitions, including the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship four times and the ADCC Submission Fighting World Championship three times.

Who is Kyra Gracie?
Kyra Gracie is a very important person in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She is one of the first women from the famous Gracie family to earn a black belt in BJJ. Even more, she was the first Gracie woman to actively compete in the sport. This means she was a pioneer for women in BJJ.
For several years, Kyra lived in the United States. There, she trained and was connected with top BJJ schools. These included the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York and the Gracie Barra Academy in Lake Forest, California.
Kyra's Competition Success
Kyra has an amazing record in competitions. She won the women's under 60 kg title at the ADCC championships in 2005, 2007, and 2011. These are major grappling events.
She also took first place at the IBJJF World Championships in 2006, 2008 (winning both lightweight and absolute divisions), and 2010. She also earned second place in 2004, 2005, 2009 (twice), and 2011.
Kyra has also trained in other martial arts like judo and wrestling. In 2010, she started training in boxing to make her grappling skills even better.
Gracie Elite Team and Adventure Camp
In 2010, Kyra joined the new Gracie Elite Team. This team was made up of top BJJ competitors from different Gracie family academies.
Also in 2010, Kyra and other family members started the Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Adventure Camp. This camp allowed people to train in BJJ while also exploring different countries.
In 2023, Kyra made history again. She became the first woman in the Gracie family to promote another family member to black belt. This was her cousin, Rayron Gracie.
Kyra's Family Life
Kyra Gracie comes from a very famous family in martial arts. Her grandfather is Robson Gracie. He is the second son of Carlos Gracie Sr., who is known as the founder of BJJ.
Kyra has four younger half-siblings. Her mother, Flavia Gracie, and her uncles also practice BJJ. This shows how important BJJ is to her family.
Kyra has two daughters with the Brazilian actor Malvino Salvador.
Kyra's Amazing Achievements
Here are some of Kyra Gracie's main achievements at the black belt level:
- 4-time World Championship champion (in 2006, 2008, and 2010). In 2008, she won both her weight class and the Absolute division!
- 2nd place at the World Championship in 2004.
- 2-time Pan-American Championship champion (in 2005 and 2007).
- 3-time Brazilian Nationals champion (in 2005 and 2008). In 2008, she also won the Absolute division.
