The Story of La Pegatina
The group began their journey in 2003. Back then, they were called Pegatina Sound System. They played over twenty shows and released a few songs. Soon, they started touring around Spain and playing at big festivals.
In 2006, they changed their name to La Pegatina. They recorded their first album, Al carrer!, which came out in early 2007. They paid for the album themselves!
This album was special because it mixed different languages. You could hear Spanish, Catalan, and Galician. Famous artists like Manu Chao and Txarango even helped out on the album.
After two years, La Pegatina had grown a lot. They had sold 4,500 copies of their album. Their songs were downloaded over 180,000 times online. They toured in Switzerland, France, Italy, and Spain. They played more than 250 concerts! Their final show in Barcelona was completely sold out.
New Music and Growing Fame
In February 2009, La Pegatina released their next album, Via Mandarina. This album also featured songs in Catalan, Galician, Spanish, and Portuguese. They toured with the "Via Mandarina Tour" in Spain, England, France, Germany, and Switzerland.
The band became very popular, especially through social media. Thousands of fans followed them. In early 2010, they won an award for Best Pop/Rock Artist from Enderrock magazine. They also won for Best Website.
This helped them become a well-known band across Europe. That year, they played in the Netherlands, Austria, Liechtenstein, France, Italy, and even Canada.
Becoming a Top European Band
In February 2011, they released Xapomelön. This album made them one of the biggest bands in Spain and Europe. It featured collaborations with artists like Joan Garriga and Amparo Sánchez.
In 2011, La Pegatina even went on a special tour to China! They called it "La PegaChina."
In February 2013, their fourth album, Eureka!, came out. It had 15 new songs. Other artists like Love of Lesbian and Esne Beltza joined them on this album. They also released a documentary about their journey called La Pegatina: El docu.
Touring the World
In early 2014, they started their "Lloverá y yo veré Tour." They played their most popular songs in many different countries. On May 12, their fifth album, Revulsiu, was released.
Revulsiu featured many guest artists, including Ska-P and Rayden. La Pegatina presented the album in Madrid, Barcelona, and Bilbao. Their tour took them across Asia, Europe, and South America!
