La Sal is a small community in northeastern San Juan County, Utah, in the United States. It is called a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's a special area set up by the government for counting people. In the year 2000, about 339 people lived there.

The name "La Sal" comes from the nearby La Sal Mountains. In Spanish, "La Sal" means "The Salt." This area is also known for having uranium, which is a special kind of metal.

Geography and Land Area

La Sal covers about 46.0 square miles (119.1 square kilometers) of land. Most of this area is land, about 45.8 square miles (118.7 square kilometers). A very small part, 0.2 square miles (0.4 square kilometers), is water.
