La Vista is a city in Sarpy County, Nebraska, United States. It's a cool place to live! In 2020, about 16,746 people called La Vista home. This makes it the 12th largest city in Nebraska. The city officially became a city on February 23, 1960.

About La Vista
La Vista is a suburb located near Omaha. It shares borders with Omaha and Ralston to the north. To the south, you'll find Papillion. Bellevue is to the east, and Interstate 80 is to the west. La Vista is the third biggest city in Sarpy County. Bellevue and Papillion are larger. Papillion is also the county seat.
City History
La Vista was started in 1959 by a developer. They planned to build 335 homes there. These homes were priced at $9,999 each. Because of this price, the area became known as "House of Nines." The first families moved into their new homes in January 1960. The name "La Vista" means "the view" in Spanish. The early residents chose this name. They loved the beautiful view of the Big Papio Creek basin. This basin is southeast of the development.

Getting Around
You can get around La Vista using Metro Transit. This is a public bus service for the Omaha area. Route 93 serves the city on weekdays.
