This river then joins Otter Creek, which eventually empties into Lake Champlain.

About Lake Dunmore

Lake Dunmore is a natural lake. It was formed a very long time ago by glaciers. Even though it is natural, a small dam helps control its water level. This dam makes sure the lake stays at a good level for everyone to enjoy.

Sucker Brook, which feeds the lake, is also part of a special project. It helps create electricity! This project connects Silver Lake and Sugar Hill Reservoir. It uses the water flow to make clean energy. This energy is then used by homes and businesses.

Fun Things to Do

Lake Dunmore is a popular spot for outdoor activities. There are many things to do for visitors and locals alike.

Branbury State Park is on the eastern side of the lake. This park covers 69 acres (about 28 hectares). It has a sandy beach where you can relax and swim. You can also rent canoes to explore the lake. For those who love nature, the park offers campsites. It is a great place to spend time outdoors.

Two summer camps operate on Lake Dunmore. These camps are part of Keewaydin (camp). Keewaydin Dunmore is a camp for boys. It was started way back in 1910. Songadeewin is a camp for girls. It was established more recently, in 1999. These camps offer fun and educational experiences for young people.
