Lake Flower is a beautiful lake in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York, in the United States. It covers about 300 acres (120 ha). This lake is special because it's a "man-made lake," which means people created it! It was formed in 1827 when a dam was built on the Saranac River.

About Lake Flower
Lake Flower is located in both Franklin County and Essex County. It is the only lake found within the village of Saranac Lake. The village and the lake are split between two towns: Harrietstown and North Elba.
History of Lake Flower
When it was first created in 1827, Lake Flower was called the Mill Pond. Later, it was renamed in honor of Roswell P. Flower. He was a very important person who served as the Governor of New York State.
Fun Activities on Lake Flower
Lake Flower is a popular spot for many exciting events.
Guideboat and Canoe Race
Every July since 1962, the annual Willard Hanmer Guideboat & Canoe Race takes place here. This race is about ten miles (16 km) long. People compete in traditional guideboats, canoes, and kayaks.
Adirondack Canoe Classic
The lake is also the finish line for the Adirondack Canoe Classic. This is a huge three-day race that covers 90 miles! It starts in Old Forge and ends right here on Lake Flower.
Ice Palace
During the winter, Lake Flower plays a big role in the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival. Each year, the village builds an amazing Ice Palace. The ice used to build this palace comes directly from Lake Flower!
