Lake Greeson is a big lake in Arkansas, United States. It's about 6 miles (10 km) north of Murfreesboro, Arkansas. This lake was made by building a dam on the Little Missouri River.

People love Lake Greeson for its beautiful views and fun activities. There are 15 parks around the lake. You can go camping, fishing, boating, biking, and swimming here.

How Lake Greeson Was Made

Lake Greeson was formed by a large wall called Narrows Dam. This dam is in a place known as "The Narrows." The lake is named after Martin White Greeson, who helped plan its creation. You can also find Daisy State Park right on the lake.

The main reason Lake Greeson was built was to stop the Little Missouri River from flooding. Building the lake started in April 1947. The first concrete was poured in June 1948. The lake was finished in 1950 and officially opened in 1951.

Amazing Wildlife at Lake Greeson

Lake Greeson is known for its many different kinds of fish. You can find Striped Bass, largemouth, spotted, and white bass. There are also flathead and channel catfish. Below Narrows Dam, you can even catch rainbow trout.

It's not just fish! Many other animals live around Lake Greeson. You might see Rabbits, squirrels, and bobwhite quail. There are also whitetail deer. West of the lake, there's a huge 35,000-acre (14,164-hectare) hunting area. It's called the Lake Greeson Public Hunting Area.

Fun Trails and Outdoor Adventures

Lake Greeson offers 45 miles (72 km) of trails. These trails are great for walking, enjoying nature, and biking.

At the Parker Creek Recreational Area, there's a special nature walk. This trail lets you explore the beautiful area around an old Cinnabar Mine. This mine was very busy in the 1930s and 1940s, before the lake was created in 1950.

The Bear Creek Cycle Trail is perfect for bike riders. It's 31 miles (50 km) long and offers amazing views. The trail goes through pine forests and over natural rolling hills.

Lake Greeson is close to the small town of Murfreesboro, Arkansas. This town is famous for being next to the Crater of Diamonds State Park. At this park, you can actually dig for real diamonds! The area around Murfreesboro has many fun places to visit and explore.
