Lake McMurray is a small community in Skagit County, Washington, in the United States. It is called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it is a special area that the government counts for population, but it is not an official city or town.

In 2020, about 382 people lived in Lake McMurray. It is part of a larger area that includes the cities of Mount Vernon and Anacortes. This larger area is sometimes called a Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History of Lake McMurray

The community of McMurray was officially set up in 1890. This happened when a railroad line was built to reach that spot.

A post office, which is a place to send and receive mail, was opened in McMurray in 1890. It stayed open for many years, until 1945. The nearby lake, which is also called Lake McMurray, got its name from an early settler who lived in the area.
