Laken Tomlinson was born on February 9, 1992. He is a professional American football player. He plays as an offensive guard for the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Duke Blue Devils. The Detroit Lions chose him in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft.

Early Life and Sports
Laken Tomlinson was born in Savanna-la-Mar, Jamaica. In March 2003, he moved to Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in the Rogers Park area.
He went to Lane Technical College Prep High School. There, he was a star in two sports: football and track and field. He was chosen as an All-state player in football during his senior year. He was also named his team's Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Track and Field Achievements
Tomlinson also excelled in track and field. In 2009, he won first place in the discus throw at the Chicago Public League Track and Field Championship. He also placed second in the shot put at the same event.
College Football Career
Tomlinson attended Duke University from 2010 to 2014. He quickly became a starter on the football team. He started in 52 games during his time in college.
In his senior year, he was named an All-American. This means he was recognized as one of the best college football players in the country. He also won the Anthony J. McKevlin Award in 2015. This award is given to the best male athlete in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Professional Football Journey
Laken Tomlinson began his professional football career in 2015. He was picked by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the NFL Draft. He was the 28th player chosen overall. This made him the first player from Duke University to be drafted in the first round since 1987.
Time with the San Francisco 49ers

On August 31, 2017, Tomlinson was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. He started 15 games as a left guard for them in 2017.
In 2018, the 49ers decided not to use their option to keep him for a fifth year. However, they later signed him to a new three-year contract. This deal kept him with the 49ers until 2021.
Playing for the New York Jets
On March 17, 2022, Tomlinson signed a three-year contract with the New York Jets. He played for the Jets for two seasons. On February 26, 2024, the Jets released him from his contract.
Joining the Seattle Seahawks
On April 15, 2024, Laken Tomlinson signed with the Seattle Seahawks. He continues his professional football career as an offensive guard for the Seahawks.
