Lakewood's Location and Size
Lakewood is found at the southern end of Chautauqua Lake. This village is about 5 miles (8 km) west of Jamestown. You can reach it by taking New York State Route 394, which is also known as Fairmount Avenue.

In 2010, there was a proposal to dissolve the village of Lakewood. This would have meant that Lakewood would no longer be a separate village. Instead, it would become fully part of the town of Busti. However, the people of Lakewood voted against this idea. Most residents wanted the village to remain independent. There were 849 votes against the proposal and 353 votes in favor.
