Lamar A. Chapman (born November 6, 1976) is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback, a defensive position, for two seasons with the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League (NFL). He was chosen by the Browns in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL draft. Before joining the NFL, he played college football at Kansas State University. Chapman also played for the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Lamar A. Chapman was born on November 6, 1976, in Liberal, Kansas. He grew up there and went to Liberal High School.
College Football Journey
Chapman played college football for the Kansas State Wildcats. This team represents Kansas State University. He played from 1995 to 1999. In 1995, he was "redshirted." This means he practiced with the team but did not play in games. It allowed him to gain experience without using up a year of his playing eligibility.
From 1996 to 1999, he was a four-year letterman. This means he played enough to earn a special award, often a letter jacket. In 1996, his first year playing, he made one interception. An interception is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an offensive player.

Professional Football Career
Playing for the Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns picked Lamar Chapman in the 2000 NFL draft. He was the 146th player chosen overall, in the fifth round. He officially signed with the team on June 16, 2000.
During the 2000 season, Chapman played in seven games for the Browns. He made 16 solo tackles. He also had one interception and broke up two passes. A pass breakup is when a defensive player stops a pass from reaching its target.
In 2001, he played in only one game. He made two solo tackles. On September 19, 2001, he was placed on injured reserve. This means he could not play due to an injury. He was placed on injured reserve again on August 5, 2002. After the 2002 season, he became a free agent, meaning he could sign with any team.
Time in the CFL
In 2005, Chapman played in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He dressed for four games with the Montreal Alouettes. During his time there, he made 12 defensive tackles. He also had two interceptions and one pass breakup.
