The Lamborghini 400 GT is a cool grand tourer car built by the famous Italian company Lamborghini. It was made between 1966 and 1968. This car was the next model after the 350 GT. It actually used the 350 GT as its base, but it came with a bigger 3,929 cubic centimetres (239.8 cu in) V12 engine. There were two main versions of the Lamborghini 400 GT: the standard 400 GT and a special one-off car called the 400 GT Monza.

History of the Lamborghini 400 GT
The very first version of this car was often called the 400 GT Interim. It was mostly like the older 350 GT. The biggest change was its larger 3,929 cc V12 engine. This new engine produced about 320 bhp (239 kW) of power. Only 23 of these 400 GT Interim cars were built. Three of them even had lightweight aluminium bodies.
The second and more common version was known as the 400 GT 2+2. This model had a different roof shape and some small changes to its outside look compared to the 350 GT and the 400 GT Interim. It was first shown to the public at the 1966 Geneva Auto Show. Because of its larger body, the 400 GT 2+2 could fit two small seats in the back. The earlier 350 GT did not have these extra seats. The car's body was designed by Carrozzeria Touring. The 400 GT also featured a new gearbox designed by Lamborghini itself. This greatly improved how the car drove.
In total, 23 units of the 400 GT Interim and 224 units of the 400 GT 2+2 were made. Production ran from 1966 to 1968. After that, the Lamborghini 400 GT was replaced by the Islero.
Engine and Speed of the 400 GT
The Lamborghini 400 GT shared many mechanical parts with the 350 GT. However, it had a more powerful 3,929 cubic centimetres (239.8 cu in) V12 engine. It also came with a different five-speed manual transmission that Lamborghini designed.
How Fast Was the 400 GT?
The 400 GT was a very fast car for its time. It could go from 0 to 60 miles per hour (0 to 97 kilometres per hour) in just 6.0 seconds. It could also reach 100 miles per hour (161 kilometres per hour) from a stop in 13.1 seconds. The car completed a quarter mile in 14.1 seconds, reaching a speed of 103 miles per hour (166 kilometres per hour) at the end.
