Lani Pallister is an amazing Australian swimmer born on June 6, 2002. She holds world records in two different sports: swimming and life saving! In swimming, she helped set a world record in the 4x200-metre freestyle relay in a "short course" pool (which is 25 meters long). She also has world records in life saving for young athletes.

Lani is the first woman to win the 1500-metre freestyle at the World Short Course Championships. She won four gold medals at the 2022 World Short Course Championships, showing how talented she is. She also made history as the first Australian woman to win a medal in the 1500-metre freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships. Lani is also a five-time winner of the famous Pier to Pub open water swim.

About Lani Pallister

Lani was born in Sydney, Australia. Her mother, Janelle Pallister, was also an Olympic swimmer. Lani has been coached by her mother since she was very young. In 2020, she joined the Griffith University swimming club. There, she is coached by both her mother and Michael Bohl. Did you know that Olympic legend Dawn Fraser is Lani's godmother?

Lani's Swimming Journey

Early Career: 2017-2018

First Junior Championships

In August 2017, when Lani was 15, she competed at the World Junior Swimming Championships in the United States. She finished eighth in the 1500-metre freestyle and tenth in the 800-metre freestyle. The next year, in January 2018, she won her first "Pier to Pub" open water swim title.

Life Saving Records

When Lani was 16, she set a new world record in life saving. This happened in August 2018 at the National Pool Championships in Adelaide. She swam the 100-metre rescue medley in 1 minute and 12.14 seconds.

Junior Pan Pacific Success

In August 2018, Lani competed at the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Fiji. She won three gold medals in the 1500-metre, 800-metre, and 400-metre freestyle events. She also earned silver medals in the 4x200-metre and 4x100-metre freestyle relays, and the 200-metre freestyle. Her 1500-metre freestyle time set a new record for the championships!

More Life Saving Records

Lani continued her success at the 2018 World Lifesaving Championships in November. She helped Australia win the world title. She set another youth world record in the 200-metre super lifesaver event. She also broke her own 100-metre rescue medley world record, swimming it even faster!
