Lansing is a small place in Mower County, Minnesota, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" and a "census-designated place" (CDP). History of Lansing
Lansing was officially planned and marked out on a map in 1858. This process is called "platting." It was named after a bigger city, Lansing, Michigan. A post office has been open in Lansing since 1857, helping people send and receive mail.
Geography of Lansing
Lansing is located in the northwestern part of Mower County, Minnesota. It is in the northeast section of Lansing Township. The Cedar River flows along its eastern side. This river goes south and eventually joins the Iowa River. Lansing is about 6 miles (10 km) north of Austin, which is the main city and county seat of Mower County.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Lansing CDP covers an area of about 0.79 square miles (2.03 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no water.
