Largent is a small, quiet community in West Virginia, United States. It is an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Largent is mostly in Morgan County, but a small part of it is in Hampshire County.

This community is located right by the beautiful Cacapon River. It's about 18 miles southwest of a town called Berkeley Springs. You can find Largent along Cacapon Road, which is also known as West Virginia Route 9. It is near places like Old Enon Cemetery and Stony Creek.

History of Largent

Largent was first known by a different name: Enon. It was probably renamed because there was another town named Enon somewhere else in West Virginia. The old name, Enon, is still used for local churches and cemeteries in the area.

The Enon School

There was once a school in Largent called the Enon school. This school appeared on maps from 1914 through 1923. It was open for many years, at least since the 1930s. In 1958, a family bought the school building. Since then, it has been used as a home.

The Largent Bridge

The Largent Bridge was built in the 1930s. This was during a time known as the New Deal, when the government created many projects to help people find jobs. The bridge was first built with only one lane for cars. However, it was quickly made wider to allow two-way traffic. If you look underneath the bridge, you can still see the difference in the concrete from where the addition was made.

Local Businesses

Today, there is only one main business operating in Largent. This is the Stoney Creek Country Store. It serves the local community.

Communication Services

Largent used to have its own post office. This post office was open from 1906 until the 1950s. Now, people and businesses in Largent get their mail from the Great Cacapon post office. This means their addresses show Great Cacapon. However, the telephone numbers in Largent use a 947 exchange. This is part of the phone system for Paw Paw.

Transportation and Roads

Largent has several local roads that connect the community. These include Kilgore Lane, Alpine Drive, Stoney Creek Road, Dunrovin Lane, Golliday Lane, and Oliver Lane. The Largent Bridge, which crosses the Cacapon River, is part of Cacapon Road. This road leads to the nearby town of Woodrow.
