Larisa Angela Bakurova (Ukrainian: Лариса Анжела Бакурова, Chinese: 李瑞莎; pinyin: Lǐ Ruìshā, commonly shortened to 瑞莎, Ruìshā; born February 21, 1985) is an actress and model. She was born in Ukraine and is now a citizen of Taiwan.

Larisa Bakurova is special because she is the first person from Ukraine to become a naturalized citizen of Taiwan. This means she went through a special process to become a Taiwanese citizen.

Early Life and Training

Larisa started training in rhythmic gymnastics when she was only three years old. Rhythmic gymnastics combines dance, ballet, and gymnastics with equipment like ribbons and balls.

At age six, she joined the famous Deriugins School in Kyiv, Ukraine. She won many national competitions during her time there. However, she had to stop competing at age 16 due to an injury.

When she was 18, she won the "Miss Kyiv" beauty pageant. Later, she earned a master's degree in economics from Odesa National Economics University.

Career Highlights

Besides her work as a model, Larisa Bakurova has acted in several TV shows and movies. She had supporting roles in the Taiwanese drama They Kiss Again and the film Don't Go Breaking My Heart. In 2012, she starred in the movie Young Dudes.

In 2020, Larisa opened her own rhythmic gymnastics gym in Taiwan. It is called Rising Star RG. She coaches young gymnasts there. She also invites famous rhythmic gymnasts, like Anna Bessonova, to teach special workshops.

Since 2023, she has led her female gymnastics team to compete in the Miss Valentine competition. This is a big event for junior female gymnasts.

Personal Life

In 2013, Larisa Bakurova received a Permanent Resident Certificate for Taiwan. This was the first step in becoming a Taiwanese citizen. She married a Taiwanese person in 2015. They have two daughters, born in 2016 and 2022.

On January 24, 2019, Larisa became the first naturalized Taiwanese citizen of Ukrainian background. This was a long process. She had to give up her Ukrainian citizenship, which was difficult because Ukraine does not have a consulate in Taiwan.
