Last Chance Creek is a stream that flows for about 38 miles (61 kilometers). It is located in Plumas County, California, in the United States. This creek is an important part of the larger Feather River system.

Where Last Chance Creek Starts and Flows

Last Chance Creek begins high up in the Diamond Mountains. These mountains are part of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The creek starts near a place called Meadow View Peak. This is about 5 miles (8 kilometers) west of a town called Doyle.

The creek first flows towards the northwest. It passes through wild areas of the Plumas National Forest. Then, it turns and flows southwest. After that, it turns directly west when it meets Squaw Queen Creek.

Its Journey to Indian Creek

From there, Last Chance Creek continues to flow west. It joins with Red Clover Creek, which is its main branch. Finally, Last Chance Creek empties into Indian Creek. This meeting point is east of a small community called Genesee.

Part of a Bigger River System

Indian Creek, where Last Chance Creek ends, is also a branch of a larger river. Indian Creek flows into the East Branch of the North Fork Feather River. This makes Last Chance Creek a very important part of the entire Feather River system.

In fact, Last Chance Creek is considered the highest point where the Feather River begins. Water from the very start of Last Chance Creek travels a long way. It flows about 204 miles (328 kilometers) before reaching the point where the Feather River joins the Sacramento River. This meeting happens northwest of the city of Sacramento.
