Indian Creek is an important stream in northern California. It flows through Plumas County. This creek is part of the larger Feather River system. It is about 47 miles (76 km) long. The creek winds through small towns and valleys. It is located in a mountainous area.

Where Indian Creek Starts and Flows

Indian Creek begins in the Diamond Mountains. This area is part of the Plumas National Forest. Its source is about 7 miles (11 km) south of Susanville.

Journey Through Valleys

The creek first flows southeast into Antelope Lake. This lake is a reservoir created by Antelope Valley Dam. After the dam, it flows south. It then meets Last Chance Creek.

Next, Indian Creek turns west. It passes through the Genesee Valley. It also flows past the town of Genesee. Then, it turns north. It goes through Indian Valley. Here, it is joined by Lights Creek and Wolf Creek. The creek passes a few miles south of Greenville.

Joining Other Rivers

After Indian Valley, the creek flows southwest. It goes past Indian Falls. Here, it joins Spanish Creek. Together, they form the East Branch North Fork Feather River.

A short distance west, the East Branch joins the North Fork Feather River. This meeting point is near Belden. Belden is about 35 miles (56 km) upstream from Lake Oroville.

Fun Things to Do at Indian Creek

SR 89 follows the lower part of Indian Creek. This road is known as the "Scenic Byway Link." It connects the Feather River National Scenic Byway (SR 70) to the Volcanic Legacy National Scenic Byway. The Volcanic Legacy Byway leads toward Lassen Volcanic National Park.

The area around Indian Creek offers many fun activities. You can go fishing in the creek. Bicycling is also popular along the scenic roads. In the fall, many people visit to see the beautiful autumn colors.
