Spanish Creek is a stream located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. It flows through Plumas County, California. This creek is a part of the larger Feather River system.
About Spanish Creek
Spanish Creek starts high up in the Plumas National Forest. From there, it flows east through a place called Meadow Valley. The creek then reaches Quincy, where it crosses the American Valley.
After leaving the valley, the creek turns north. It flows through a canyon until it reaches Paxton. At Paxton, Spanish Creek joins with Indian Creek. Together, they form the East Branch North Fork Feather River.
The Keddie Wye
Near a town called Keddie, you can find the Keddie Wye. This is a special rail junction for the Union Pacific Railroad. A rail junction is where train tracks meet and split off in different directions.
The Keddie Wye is famous for its twin bridges. These bridges cross right over Spanish Creek. Many people who enjoy watching trains, called trainspotters, like to visit this spot. The Keddie Wye was built a long time ago, in 1909. It was an important part of the original Feather River Route for trains.
