History of Latham
Latham was officially planned and set up in 1871. It was named after Robert B. Latham, who was an important person working for the railroad at that time. A post office opened in Latham in 1872, helping the community grow.
Geography of Latham
Latham is found in the southeastern part of Logan County. A main road, Illinois Route 121, goes around the north and east sides of the village. This road connects Latham to other towns. If you go northwest, you can reach Mount Pulaski (about 7 miles away) and Lincoln (about 18 miles away), which is the main town of Logan County. If you head southeast, you'll find Warrensburg (about 6 miles away) and Decatur (about 15 miles away).
