Lebanon Valley facts for kids
The Lebanon Valley is a special area of land in eastern Pennsylvania, United States. It's located between two mountain ranges: South Mountain and the Ridge and Valley Province. This valley is mostly found in Lebanon and Berks counties. Some parts also stretch into eastern Dauphin and northern Lancaster counties. Its southwestern edge touches the Susquehanna River, and its northeastern end connects to the Lehigh Valley.
The Lebanon Valley is part of a much bigger area called the Great Valley. This long, low-lying route runs from northeast to southwest, just inside the Blue Ridge Mountains and South Mountain. The Great Valley, including the Lebanon Valley, has always been known for its rich, farm-friendly soil. Southwest of the Lebanon Valley, this larger area is called the Cumberland Valley. To the northeast, it's known as the Lehigh Valley. Lebanon Valley College is even named after this region! The western part of the valley sends its water to the Chesapeake Bay, while the eastern part flows into the Delaware River.
