Lenna Kuurmaa, born on September 26, 1985, is a talented singer, songwriter, and actress from Estonia. She became well-known as a member of the girl group Vanilla Ninja. After the group took a break in 2009, Lenna started her own music career as a solo artist. She also formed a band called "Lenna," which released its first album, Lenna, in June 2010.

Lenna's Music Journey
Lenna Kuurmaa began her musical journey at a young age. From 1990 to 2002, she was part of the ETV Lasteekraani Muusikastuudio, which is a music studio for children at Estonian Television. She performed with the choir at many international festivals in countries like Italy, the Netherlands, and the USA.
Lenna also studied violin at the Tallinn Music School from 2000 to 2006. She received special training for her singing voice between 1997 and 2002. In 2002, she joined a TV singing competition called Fizz Superstar and made it to the quarter-finals.
In the same year, Lenna and three other girls formed the rock band Vanilla Ninja. After Vanilla Ninja took a break in 2009, Lenna started her solo music career using the artist name Lenna. In June 2010, she released her first solo album, also called Lenna. All the songs on this album were written and produced by Vaiko Eplik, who also owns the record label Mortimer Snerd. Lenna's band also performed at the 2010 Shanghai EXPO, a big international event.
Lenna and the Eurovision Song Contest
Lenna Kuurmaa has often taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest, which is a huge international music competition, and its national try-out shows. Here's how she did:
- In 2003, with Vanilla Ninja, their song "Club Kung-Fu" was placed last by an international jury in the Estonian try-out, Eurolaul. However, many people really liked the song.
- In 2005, she represented Switzerland with Vanilla Ninja at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kyiv. Their song was "Cool Vibes", and they finished in 8th place.
- In 2007, Vanilla Ninja tried again in Eurolaul 2007 with "Birds of Peace" and came in fourth.
- In 2010, Lenna competed as a solo artist in the Estonian national contest Eesti Laul 2010. Her song "Rapunzel," which she co-arranged with Vaiko Eplik, finished second.
- In 2012, Lenna returned to Eesti Laul 2012 with the song "Mina jään" and also finished second.
- In 2014, Lenna participated in Eesti Laul again with "Supernoova," finishing fourth.
- In 2017, Lenna competed in Eesti Laul once more. Her song "Slingshot" placed eighth.
