Lenna Kuurmaa was born on September 26, 1985. She is a talented singer, songwriter, and actress from Estonia. Many people know her as a member of the girl group Vanilla Ninja. After the band took a break in 2009, Lenna started her own solo music career. She even formed a band called "Lenna" and released her first album, Lenna, in June 2010.

Musical Journey
Lenna started her music journey very young. From 1990 to 2002, she was part of the ETV Children's Music Studio. She sang with the choir and performed in many countries around the world. These countries included Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, and the USA.
Early Life and Training
Lenna also studied violin at the Tallinn Music School from 2000 to 2006. She had vocal lessons from different teachers between 1997 and 2002. In 2002, she joined a TV singing contest called Fizz Superstar. She made it to the quarter-finals, showing her great singing skills.
Joining Vanilla Ninja
In the same year, 2002, Lenna and three other girls formed the rock band Vanilla Ninja. The band became very popular. After Vanilla Ninja took a break in 2009, Lenna decided to start her solo career. She began making music under the artist name Lenna.
Solo Music and First Album
In June 2010, Lenna released her first solo album, also called Lenna. It was released through Mortimer Snerd. All the songs on the album were written with and produced by Vaiko Eplik. He also owns the record label. Lenna's band even performed at the 2010 Shanghai EXPO in China.
Eurovision Adventures
Lenna Kuurmaa has taken part in the famous Eurovision Song Contest many times. She has also competed in the national contests to choose who will represent Estonia.
Representing Estonia and Switzerland
- In 2003, her band Vanilla Ninja entered the Estonian contest Eurolaul with their song "Club Kung-Fu". Even though fans loved it, an international jury placed it last.
- In 2005, Vanilla Ninja represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kyiv. Their song was "Cool Vibes", and they finished in 8th place. This was a great achievement!
- In 2007, Vanilla Ninja tried again in Eurolaul 2007 with "Birds of Peace". They finished in fourth place.
- In 2010, Lenna competed as a solo artist in the Estonian contest Eesti Laul 2010. Her song was "Rapunzel", which she co-arranged with Vaiko Eplik. She finished in second place.
- In 2012, Lenna returned to Eesti Laul 2012 with "Mina jään". She again finished in second place.
- In 2014, she participated in Eesti Laul with "Supernoova", finishing fourth.
- Her most recent participation was in 2017, in Eesti Laul, with the song "Slingshot". She finished eighth.

Besides singing, Lenna is also an actress. She has appeared in several films and TV shows.

In 2007, Lenna played Maya in the Estonian film Kuhu põgenevad hinged (Where Souls Go). She also played Angela in the Estonian TV show Kodu keset linna that same year. Since 2008, Lenna has been a guest actress in the play Pericles at Theatre NO99.
In 2010, she got a role as an investigator in the crime TV series Kelgukoerad. Lenna has said that she doesn't plan to study acting professionally. In 2012, she was in the Finnish movie Vuosaari. She also appeared as Pille in the drama Üksik saar that same year. From 2012 to 2014, she played Anne in the comedy series Tupiktänava mehed on Kanal 2. In 2017, Lenna started playing Ramilda Martin in the Estonian crime-comedy series Kättemaksukontor on TV3.
Other Cool Activities
Lenna has also worked in television as a host. For example, she hosted the song contest Laulukarussell in 2006. She has also hosted shows on Sky Plus radio since 2007.
Musical Theatre and Special Bands
Lenna is a member of the Estonian Performers' Association and the Estonian Authors' Society. She has also been part of musical theatre shows like Kuningas ja mina (The King and I) and Helisev muusika (The Sound of Music). In 2007, fans of Raadio 2 chose Lenna to be a singer in the Unistuste Bänd (Dream Band). This was a special group of popular Estonian musicians who performed together just once.
In 2010, she took part in the TV3 series "Laulud tähtedega" with Artur Talvik. In 2015, she joined the Estonian version of the TV show Stars in Their Eyes.
