Lessebo Municipality (Lessebo kommun) is a special area in southern Sweden. It is located in Kronoberg County. The main town and administrative center is Lessebo.
The municipality was created in 1971. This happened when three smaller areas joined together with the market town of Lessebo. Lessebo itself became a market town in 1939.
Lessebo Municipality has a rich history, especially linked to Swedish emigration. In the late 1800s, many poor farmers from Sweden moved to the United States. Many of these farmers came from the Småland region, which includes Lessebo.
The famous author Vilhelm Moberg wrote novels about this time. His main characters came from the Ljuder parish in eastern Lessebo Municipality. Today, there is an honorary Walk of the Emigrants that goes through the municipality. It continues all the way to Karlshamn in the south.
