Where is Leyner Located?
Leyner is in the eastern part of Boulder County. It sits along the west side of U.S. Route 287. This road is a main highway that runs through the area. Leyner is about 4 miles (6.4 kilometers) north of Lafayette. The Boulder Creek flows along the northern edge of Leyner.

Leyner's History
Leyner has a connection to the history of railroads in Colorado. A train track was built through the Leyner area in the early 1870s. This track connected the cities of Boulder and Brighton. The Denver & Boulder Valley Railroad built this line.
Railroad Ownership Changes
Later, in 1898, the Union Pacific Railroad took over the Denver & Boulder Valley Railroad. Leyner did not appear on maps until 1951. It was next to a "siding," which is a short track where trains can wait or pass each other. This suggests that Leyner might have been a train station at some point.
