Lillestrøm Sportsklubb is a professional football club from Lillestrøm, Norway. This city is located just outside the capital, Oslo. The club was started in 1917 when two local football clubs joined together.

Lillestrøm SK holds a special record in Norway. They played for 45 years in a row (from 1975 to 2019) without being moved down to a lower league. Many players from the club have played for the Norwegian national team. Also, players from countries like the United States, Sweden, Iceland, and Nigeria have played for Lillestrøm SK.

Club History and Wins

Lillestrøm SK was founded on April 2, 1917. The team has won the Norwegian League five times. Their wins were in 1959, 1976, 1977, 1986, and 1989. They have also won the Norwegian Cup six times. These cup victories happened in 1977, 1978, 1981, 1985, 2007, and 2017.

Key Moments in Recent Years

After the 2004 season, Uwe Rösler, a former player, became the head coach. In his first year, Lillestrøm finished fourth in the league. They also reached the 2005 Norwegian Cup final but lost to Molde.

In 2007, Tom Nordlie became the new coach. Under him, Lillestrøm finished fourth in the league again. They also won the Norwegian Cup that year. They beat Haugesund 2–0 in the final.

In 2008, Tom Nordlie left the club. Henning Berg took over as head coach in 2009. He helped the team avoid being moved down to a lower league. The 2009 season was tough for the club. They sold many players and had many injuries. Despite a difficult start, they finished 11th in the league.

In 2011, Lillestrøm started the season very well. They scored 18 goals in their first five games. However, they had to sell some key players later in the season. This was because the club was facing financial difficulties. The team then struggled and did not win any of their last 11 league games. Coach Henning Berg was let go before the season ended.

After Berg, Magnus Haglund became the coach. The club brought in many new players for the 2012 season. However, the team still struggled and was close to being relegated. They managed to finish 9th after a strong end to the season.
