Lillestrøm SK was founded on April 2, 1917. The team has won the Norwegian League five times. Their wins were in 1959, 1976, 1977, 1986, and 1989. They have also won the Norwegian Cup six times. These cup victories happened in 1977, 1978, 1981, 1985, 2007, and 2017.
Key Moments in Recent Years
After the 2004 season, Uwe Rösler, a former player, became the head coach. In his first year, Lillestrøm finished fourth in the league. They also reached the 2005 Norwegian Cup final but lost to Molde.
In 2007, Tom Nordlie became the new coach. Under him, Lillestrøm finished fourth in the league again. They also won the Norwegian Cup that year. They beat Haugesund 2–0 in the final.
In 2008, Tom Nordlie left the club. Henning Berg took over as head coach in 2009. He helped the team avoid being moved down to a lower league. The 2009 season was tough for the club. They sold many players and had many injuries. Despite a difficult start, they finished 11th in the league.
