Lin Junq-tzer (Chinese: 林政則; pinyin: Lín Zhèngzé; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Lîm Chèng-chek) was born in 1944. He is a Taiwanese politician. He served as the appointed governor of the Taiwan Provincial Government from 2010 to 2016.
Early Life and Education
Lin Junq-tzer is a Hakka person, born in Hsinchu, Taiwan. He studied business administration at Soochow University. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1967. Later, in 1989, he received a master's degree in educational administration.
Early Career Path
After finishing his first degree, Lin Junq-tzer worked as a teacher. He taught at Zhudong Junior High School in Hsinchu County. This was during the years 1968 and 1969.
Start in Politics
Lin Junq-tzer began his political journey in 1972. On December 23, 1972, he ran in a legislative election. He won a seat to become a member of the Hsinchu County Council. Later, in 1981, he became a representative for the National Assembly. The National Assembly was a group of delegates who had important roles in the government.
Serving as Hsinchu City Mayor
Lin Junq-tzer was elected as the Mayor of Hsinchu City. He won the election in 2001 as a member of the Kuomintang party. He officially started his job as mayor on December 20, 2001.
He was very popular and was re-elected as mayor in 2005. He won by a large margin, nearly 40% more votes than his opponent. He began his second term as mayor on December 20, 2005.
