Lin Junq-tzer (born in 1944) is a Taiwanese politician. He has held many important roles in the government. From 2010 to 2016, he was the appointed governor of the Taiwan Provincial Government. He also served as the mayor of Hsinchu City for eight years.

About Lin Junq-tzer
Early Life and School
Lin Junq-tzer was born in Hsinchu, Taiwan. He is from the Hakka ethnic group. In 1967, he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Soochow University. Later, in 1989, he completed his master's degree in educational administration.
First Jobs
After finishing his first degree, Lin Junq-tzer worked as a teacher. He taught at Zhudong Junior High School in Hsinchu County from 1968 to 1969.
Start in Politics
Lin Junq-tzer began his political journey in 1972. He was elected as a member of the Hsinchu County Council. This was his first step into public service. In 1981, he became a delegate for the National Assembly. This group helped to make important decisions for the country.
Serving as Hsinchu City Mayor
Lin Junq-tzer became the Mayor of Hsinchu City in 2001. He won the local election as a member of the Kuomintang party. He officially started his term on December 20, 2001.
He was very popular with the people of Hsinchu. He was re-elected as mayor in 2005. He won by a large margin, showing that many people supported his leadership. He continued to serve as mayor until December 20, 2009.

After being mayor, Lin Junq-tzer took on even bigger roles.
Governor of Taiwan Province
From 2010 to 2016, he served as the Chairman of the Provincial Government for Taiwan Province. This is like being the governor of a large area. He was also a Minister without Portfolio, which means he was a minister without a specific department, often working on special projects for the government.
Leadership in Kuomintang
Lin Junq-tzer also held important positions within the Kuomintang political party. He was a Vice Chairman of the party from 2016 to 2017. For a short time in 2017, he even served as the acting Chairman of the Kuomintang.
