Lincoln is a small town located in Madison County, New York, United States. In 2010, about 2,012 people lived here. The town is found in the north-central part of Madison County.

A Look at Lincoln's Past

The town of Lincoln was created in 1896. It was formed when the larger Town of Lenox was divided. One of the first families to settle here was the Klock family.

The building that now serves as the Lincoln town hall used to be a school. It was known as the Lenox District No. 4 Schoolhouse. This historic building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Lincoln covers a total area of about 25 square miles (64.8 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a very small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.1 square kilometers), is water.

  • Lenox – A hamlet situated east-northeast of Clockville.
  • Perryville – This hamlet is on the town line in the southwestern part of Lincoln. Part of it is also in the Town of Fenner.
  • Mirrellsville – A hamlet found in the southeastern area of the town.
