Lisa Lampanelli (born Lisa Marie Lampugnale on July 19, 1961) is an American former stand-up comedian and actress. She was known for her unique style of comedy, often called "insult comedy."

Early Life and Journalism Career
Lisa Lampanelli grew up in Trumbull, Connecticut. Her family was a typical middle-class family. Her mother worked for the local police, and her father worked for an aircraft company before becoming a painter.
Lisa went to Catholic schools and later studied journalism at Boston College and Syracuse University. She also took a special publishing course at Harvard University.
Before becoming a comedian, Lisa worked as a copy editor for Popular Mechanics magazine. She was also an assistant at Rolling Stone and the first chief of research for Spy magazine. She once said she was a "real journalist" for these magazines.
Comedy Career
Lisa Lampanelli started her stand-up comedy career in New York in the early 1990s. She became well-known after performing at a special comedy event called a "roast" for Chevy Chase in 2002.
After that, she took part in many other roasts for famous people like Denis Leary, Pamela Anderson, Jeff Foxworthy, and Donald Trump. She even hosted a roast for Larry the Cable Guy.
Lisa released a comedy DVD called Take it Like A Man in 2005. She also appeared in movies like Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector (2006) and Delta Farce (2008). She had her own stand-up special called Dirty Girl which aired on Comedy Central in 2007.
In 2009, her one-hour HBO special, Lisa Lampanelli: Long Live the Queen, was shown. She also had a show on Broadway in 2012 called Bring Back the Fat Chick. Her comedy album Back to the Drawing Board was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2016.
Retirement from Comedy
In 2018, Lisa Lampanelli announced that she was retiring from stand-up comedy. She explained that she felt her "insult comedy" style was sometimes misunderstood. She didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
After retiring, Lisa decided to become a life coach. She now shares her personal stories, which she describes as "heartfelt but funny," especially about her journey with food and weight.
The Celebrity Apprentice 5
Lisa Lampanelli was a contestant on The Celebrity Apprentice 5 in 2012. During the show, she had many disagreements with other contestants, including Victoria Gotti and Dayana Mendoza.
Despite these challenges, Lisa was very successful at raising money for her chosen charity, Gay Men's Health Crisis. She raised $130,000 and won two out of three challenges when she was the team leader. She was eventually eliminated from the show in the final stages.
Books
Lisa Lampanelli wrote a book about her life called Chocolate, Please: My Adventures in Food, Fat, and Freaks. It was published in 2009.
Personal Life
Lisa Lampanelli has been married twice. She married Jimmy Cannizzaro in 2010, but they divorced in 2014.
Lisa is a strong supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. In 2011, when a group planned to protest one of her shows, she promised to donate money to Gay Men's Health Crisis for every protester who showed up. She ended up donating $50,000, saying the protesters made it possible.
