The prime minister of Greenland is the main leader of the government in Greenland. This important job is also known as the premier of Greenland. The prime minister is usually the head of the political party that has the most seats in the Parliament of Greenland.
Greenland is a territory that belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark, but it has its own government. This means it can make many of its own decisions. Jonathan Motzfeldt became the very first prime minister in 1979. This was when Greenland was given home rule, which meant it could govern itself more. The current prime minister is Jens-Frederik Nielsen.
