The Prime Minister of Greenland is the main leader of the government in Greenland. This important job is also called the Premier of Greenland. The person holding this role is usually the head of the political party that has the most seats in the Parliament of Greenland.
Greenland is a territory that belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark. In 1979, Greenland gained "home rule," which meant it could manage more of its own affairs. After this, Jonathan Motzfeldt became the very first Prime Minister. The current Prime Minister is Jens-Frederik Nielsen, who took office on April 7, 2025.
