The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic is a very important job in the Czech government. This person is the head of government, which means they lead the country's daily operations. The job was created in 1993 when Czechoslovakia split into two separate countries: the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The Czech Republic is a parliamentary democracy. This means that the people vote for members of parliament, and these members then choose the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister works closely with the President, who is the head of state.
The first Prime Minister of the Czech Republic was Václav Klaus. He later became the second President of the Czech Republic. The current Prime Minister is Petr Fiala. He is the 13th person to hold this position and has been in office since December 17, 2021. He leads the ODS.

From March 6, 1990, to December 31, 1992, the Czech Republic was a part of Czechoslovakia. During this time, the Czech Republic had its own Prime Ministers who managed its affairs within the larger country.
