Zoey Brooks, played by Jamie Lynn Spears, is the main character. She is Dustin's older sister. Zoey is best friends with Dana, Nicole, Lola, and Quinn. She is also very close with Chase Matthews.
Zoey loves playing basketball and was one of the first girls on the PCA team. She also enjoys designing clothes and backpacks. Zoey is good at disc golf and acting. She even won a role in a school play.
Zoey is a natural leader. She is spunky, charming, and independent. These traits help her get support for anything she does. In the third Zoey 101 movie, "Goodbye Zoey?", she moves to London. She goes to a special school there because her dad works in England.
Zoey later returns to PCA to tell Chase how she feels. She heard him say he missed and loved her. But Chase had already moved to London to be with her! They tried to date online, but it was too hard. They decided to wait until Chase came back to PCA.
While Chase was away, Zoey dated James Garrett. Before prom, James told her he loved her. Zoey was not sure how she felt, so she broke up with him. They decided to stay friends. Finally, Chase and Zoey shared their first kiss. They officially became a couple in the series finale, "Chasing Zoey".

Dustin Brooks, played by Paul Butcher, is Zoey's younger brother. Zoey is his biggest protector and closest friend. Dustin also becomes her classmate at PCA, which used to be an all-boys school.
Dustin is very smart for his age. He even takes an 8th-grade geometry class with Zoey. He often helps Quinn Pensky with her science projects. Dustin is good at talking his way into and out of tricky situations.
When Dustin gets into trouble, Zoey is always the first to help him. Even though her protective nature sometimes bothers him, he loves Zoey too much to be mad. He briefly dated a girl named Trisha Kirby in the episode "Bad Girl."
By Season 3, Dustin is friends with all the main characters. He also spends time with kids his own age. When Zoey moves to London, Dustin stays at PCA. In the TV movie "Chasing Zoey," he goes to prom with Quinn.

Chase Matthews, played by Sean Flynn, is the main male character in Zoey 101. He is the first person Zoey meets at PCA. People often tease Chase about his bushy hair. Michael once called it a "crazy Jewish afro."
Chase is a bit of a dork, but girls still like him. He is from Baltimore. Chase has a secret crush on Zoey that he is scared to tell her. He is also very clumsy and often falls down stairs. Chase knows a lot about comic books. He has a dog named Chester.
Chase is very trusting. In one episode, Zoey tricked him into thinking there was a hamster behind him to win a foosball game. He also believed everyone died from Quinn's germ in "Quarantine." He worked at PCA's Sushi Rox restaurant for the first three seasons.
Chase often plays or carries a guitar and also plays the cello. He once wrote a school play and cast himself as a lifeguard who loved an alien girl, played by Zoey. He hoped they would kiss, but Logan got the part instead.
Chase's crush on Zoey grew stronger over time. There were also hints that Zoey liked him back. But Chase decided to keep his feelings hidden, thinking they were just meant to be friends.
In the TV movie "Goodbye Zoey?", Zoey was offered a chance to go to London. Chase heard rumors she decided to go without talking to him. This hurt him, so he acted bitter. He sarcastically told her to go and did not say goodbye.
Chase later learned how much Zoey cared about his opinion. He regretted his actions. He started hanging out with a girl named Gretchen, who looked like Zoey but was very different. Logan and Michael finally talked to Chase. He admitted he missed and loved Zoey.
Zoey overheard this because of a webcam problem. This led to Chase moving to London to be with her. But at the same time, Zoey moved back to PCA to be with him! They tried a video chat date, but it did not work. They decided to wait until Chase returned from England.
In the final episode, "Zoey 101: Chasing Zoey", Chase returns. He and Zoey finally kiss and become a couple. They spend the summer together in Hawaii.
Years later, a video aired that showed what Zoey said about Chase in a time capsule. Zoey said she cared for Chase and thought he might be her soulmate. Chase was very happy and went to find Zoey.

Dana Cruz, played by Kristin Herrera, was one of Zoey's roommates in Season 1. She is one of only two main characters to appear in just one season. Dana is a tomboy and good at sports, especially basketball. She also likes to skateboard.
Dana loves to sleep and hates being woken up. She thinks the snooze button is the best invention ever. She often argued with her roommate Nicole Bristow. Dana's attitude was similar to Logan Reese's, even though she could not stand him.
Dana likes to do things on her own. But she found she had more success when working with a group. She could be tough and a bit lazy.
In Season 2, Dana went to Paris for a student exchange program. She was originally planned to become Logan's girlfriend, but Quinn Pensky took that role. Dana appeared in 13 episodes, all in Season 1. She was mentioned a few times in Season 2 but not seen again.

Michael Barret, played by Christopher Massey, is Logan and Chase's roommate and best friend. Michael is a natural athlete and plays the flute. He and Logan often encouraged Chase to talk about his feelings for Zoey.
Michael used to be addicted to potato chips. He gets along with almost everyone at PCA. He is a very loyal and supportive friend who loves to make people laugh. He once tried very hard to make Quinn laugh.
He had a web show with Chase called The Chase and Michael Show. It was popular until Dean Rivers briefly canceled it. Michael is a good singer, but only when girls he likes are not around. He is sometimes a test subject for Quinn's science projects. Michael also likes to play with his clackers, which everyone else hates.
In Season 4, it was revealed that Michael is very afraid of roller coasters. Logan spread this secret around campus, which embarrassed Michael. Zoey helped him overcome his fear. He eventually realized he liked riding them. Michael has a girlfriend named Lisa.

Nicole Bristow, played by Alexa Nikolas, is a student at PCA from Kansas. Her father owns a juice company. She is the second friend Zoey makes at PCA and one of her roommates for the first two seasons.
Nicole looks up to Zoey for her good ideas. In Season 1, we learn she is "boy-crazy" and not good at sports. Nicole is a typical girly girl. She can be a bit silly but is also very sensitive. She was worried about new roommates after arguing with Dana. But she got along well with Lola in Season 2.
In Season 2, Nicole was a straight-A student. However, she kept getting distracted by cute boys in her classes. Quinn and Lola used hypnosis to help her. After that, she only saw boys as her grandfather.
She was later sent to an all-girls school. This was because she was too distracted by boys, as revealed in the Season 3 premiere. Zoey said she would be back soon, but Nicole was never seen in the series again. She appeared in all 26 episodes of Seasons 1 and 2.

Quinn Pensky, played by Erin Sanders, is a very smart girl. She is one of Lola and Zoey's best friends. She is from Seattle, Washington. Quinn is known for her crazy experiments, which make other students think she is strange.
Quinn is often curious and her experiments are unusual. She sometimes ignores the dangers of her inventions. They almost always go wrong. For example, she made a breath spray that caused uncontrollable laughter. She also made a humane mouse trap that shot a plasma bolt.
In "New Roomies," it was revealed she is also a budding inventor. She calls her inventions "Quinnventions." One invention that did not go wrong was a wristwatch that shot lasers. She used it to stop Michael's alarm clock.
It was revealed in "Quinn's Date" that she has six toes on her right foot. This was mentioned a few times later in the series.
In "Quinn's Alpaca," we learn she has a pet alpaca named Otis back home. She tried to leave PCA to be with him. She also has a pet rat, a spider named Herman, and a snake named Marvin. For the first two seasons, she lived alone. She was Zoey's roommate once, but Quinn could not handle Zoey's attitude towards her science work.
Quinn became roommates with Zoey and Lola in Season 3 after Nicole left. Quinn is easily offended. She did not like being called a "spaz" as a child. She taught Logan a lesson by messing with him while teaching him foul shots.
Quinn fell in love with Mark Del Figgalo and dated him for most of the series. Mark later wanted to pause their relationship. Quinn dumped him when he started dating Brooke Margolin. She used to hate Logan Reese. But after she broke up with Mark, Quinn and Logan fell in love.
They started dating at the beginning of Season 4. They kept it a secret because they worried about what others would say. She took Dustin to the PCA prom in "Chasing Zoey" to keep her relationship with Logan a secret. They finally revealed their relationship at prom. They were tired of keeping it a secret and sealed it with a kiss.

Logan Reese, played by Matthew Underwood, is the spoiled son of a rich TV producer. Many students think Logan is a flirty jerk. Logan likes to take pictures of himself and give out signed copies to girls. His dad gave him money for everything in the boys' dorm room.
Logan thinks he is the best-looking guy on campus. He is very stuck-up and full of himself. He is shown to be less smart in school. But in "Zoey's Tutor," it was revealed he is very good at chemistry. His grandfather, a chemistry professor, tutored him every summer. He also enjoys being active and spending time with girls. He sometimes seemed to have a crush on Zoey.
Many girls are attracted to Logan, but his cocky personality turns others away. He is very competitive and will do anything to get what he wants. In "Hands on a Blix Van," he faked a leg injury to win a competition. He also scared a student and locked Zoey in a portable bathroom. But Zoey and her friends often outsmart him.
In the TV movie Spring Break-Up, it was revealed he has a beach house in Santa Barbara. He is good friends with Chase and Michael. Unlike Michael, Logan often made fun of Chase's crush on Zoey. However, when Chase tried to replace Zoey with another girl, Logan and Michael helped him. Logan even ripped the head off a giraffe Zoey gave Chase, showing he cared.
Logan also cares for Zoey, even though he often annoys her. He helped her avoid being expelled after a prank. In an episode where Zoey was hurt in a wrestling match, Logan defended her. He even fought his friend Vince Blake to protect Chase. In Season 4, Logan and Quinn started dating in secret. Logan seemed to become nicer after dating Quinn. He lost interest in other girls, though no one noticed.
In the movie Zoey 101: Chasing Zoey, Logan took Stacey Dillsen to prom to keep his relationship with Quinn a secret. Logan and Quinn announced their relationship at prom. Stacey tried to kiss him, and he shouted that he loved Quinn. She said it back, and they kissed.

Lola Martinez, played by Victoria Justice, wants to be a movie star. She came to PCA after Dana moved out. She first appeared in "Back to PCA" in Season 2. Lola became Zoey and Nicole's new roommate. She later became Quinn's roommate in Season 3.
As an acting exercise, Lola pretended to be a "freaky goth chick" on her first day. She wore a white wig and black clothes. She even pretended to pierce her tongue and talk to the dead. This scared Zoey and Nicole. They wanted to sleep outside rather than share a room with her. They later found out she was just acting.
Lola is very dedicated to her dream of becoming a famous Hollywood actress. She is confident she will win an Oscar by her 19th birthday. Her acting talent was clear in "Girls Will Be Boys." She fooled Chase and Logan into thinking she was a boy. This showed that boys do not have to act differently around girls.
In "Lola Likes Chase," Lola briefly dated Chase. She developed a crush on him when he tutored her for biology. They broke up when Lola felt it was not working. She believed he had feelings for someone else.
Lola loves to talk. She lost her voice in "Quarantine" from practicing her scream too much for a play. This made everyone else happy because they were stuck in the dorm. She can do a very convincing British accent. She is afraid of people in big costumes. This is because of an accident with a man in a giant hot dog costume when she was younger.
Lola can tell if a boy is a good kisser by eating an apple. In "Vince is Back," it was revealed that Lola likes Vince. She kissed Vince four times after finding out he had changed. They later became a couple. Lola also enjoys knitting, but she is not very good at it. In the series finale, "Chasing Zoey", Vince took Lola to the prom.

James Garrett, played by Austin Butler, is Zoey's ex-boyfriend. He became Logan and Michael's new roommate. He is from Santa Fe, New Mexico. He took Chase's old bedroom, which Michael and Logan did not like. They made it clear they did not want him there.
Logan started a rumor that James and Zoey were dating. Michael apologized to James and invited him back to live with them. They got Logan to admit his rumor was false. Later in the same episode, James and Zoey kissed and became a couple. James often helped the girls get back at Logan.
In "Chasing Zoey", James gave Zoey a necklace that said, "I love you." Zoey did not talk to him and ended up breaking up with him. She said she loved him but "there's something in the way." They decided to remain friends.

Mark Del Figgalo, played by Jack Salvatore, Jr., is Quinn's ex-boyfriend. Before they broke up, he was often involved in her experiments. Mark appeared in Season 1, first as Dustin's student. He became Quinn's boyfriend after the episode "Quinn's Date."
Mark shows very little emotion and is often seen as boring. However, he does smile sometimes. Quinn thinks he is cute and dreamy, but Zoey and her roommates do not. He loves salami and plain baked potatoes. He cannot eat dairy. Mark also collects rocks and antique calendars. He likes to knit.
In "Quinn Misses the Mark," he broke up with Quinn. He then dated a girl named Brooke, who later dumped him for being boring. Michael, Logan, and Chase often call him "Del Figgalo" or "Del Figgs." Quinn and Lola usually call him "Mark."

Stacey Dillsen, played by Abby Wilde, is a student at PCA. She has a very noticeable lisp. She is obsessed with cotton swabs and white glue, which she uses for crafts. She also sings a special song about sassafras tea.
Stacey has a crush on Logan Reese because he is muscular. She often calls him "hot and spicy," which bothers Logan. Stacey became Lola and Quinn's roommate in "Goodbye Zoey?: Part 2" after Zoey left.
In "Chasing Zoey," Logan asked Stacey to prom. He did this to keep his secret relationship with Quinn hidden. Mark accidentally hit Stacey with a car while learning to drive. This made her lose her lisp, and she started speaking "perfectly." After this, it seemed Stacey and Mark might be dating.
Stacey was a recurring character in Seasons 3 and 4. She later appeared in iCarly and Sam & Cat. In iCarly, her lisp returned. In Sam & Cat, she was in the hospital after a bike accident. It was revealed she had graduated from PCA and was in college.
Jeremiah Trotman
Jeremiah Trotman, played by Creagen Dow, is the school anchorman for PCA news. He reports on everything happening at PCA. He takes his job very seriously. He always wears his orange Converse shoes as part of his news outfit. After most broadcasts, he pauses and says "courage."
In "Chasing Zoey," he saw Zoey alone and wanted to take her to prom. He even planned to get "rid" of his date, Martha. He planned to move to New York after graduation to become a network news anchor. Jeremiah appeared in 14 episodes of Zoey 101.
Vince Blake
Vincent "Vince" Blake, played by Brando Eaton, first appeared in "The Great Vince Blake." He was a star football player and very popular at PCA. Many guys looked up to him. Chase seemed to be the only one bothered by Vince's popularity.
However, Vince was caught cheating on a test by Chase. Chase reported him, and Vince was put on probation. Angry, Vince gathered the football team and beat up Chase, Michael, Logan, and Mark. Vince was then expelled from PCA.
Vince returned in "Vince Is Back" and seemed to have changed. The guys wanted revenge, but the girls decided to ignore him. However, he and Lola had the same yoga class. Lola could not resist how nice he had become and kissed him four times. They later became a couple.
Eventually, Zoey, Quinn, Logan, and Michael forgave him. They all became friends. It is not clear if Chase ever forgave him. Vince made his final appearance in "Chasing Zoey," taking Lola to the prom.
Lisa Perkins
Lisa Perkins, played by Lisa Tucker, is Michael's girlfriend in Seasons 3 and 4. She first appeared in "Michael Loves Lisa" and became his girlfriend. Before dating Michael, she dated another boy. He ran away when Chase's go-kart went out of control during their picnic.
She appeared again in "Hands on a Blix Van." She broke up and reunited with Michael after he made fun of her necklace. She then appeared in the final two episodes, "Roller Coaster" and "Chasing Zoey."
Wayne "Firewire" Gilbert
Wayne "Firewire" Gilbert, played by Allen Evangelista, is a tech geek in the science club. In "Robot Wars," he got upset when people did not call him "Firewire." He worked on a robot that was too tall for the rules.
He also helped Rebecca get revenge on Zoey. He helped Michael and Logan get revenge on Vince. He wants to be like Ryan Seacrest. Quinn does not like him because he and his friends would not let her join the science club. His last appearance was in "Chasing Zoey." He and his friends thought the world was ending and ran into the woods.
Rebecca Martin
Rebecca, played by Daniella Monet, was Chase's girlfriend at the start of Season 3. They broke up because Rebecca did not like Zoey. She tried to tell Chase to stay away from Zoey. Later, in "Zoey's Balloon," Rebecca tried to embarrass Zoey for revenge. She made Zoey wear a banana costume and dance. But Zoey and her friends stopped Rebecca. Rebecca only appeared in Season 3.
Brooke Margolin
Brooke, played by Mariah Buzolin, became Mark's girlfriend. Mark broke up with Quinn because he and Brooke had many things in common. Brooke appeared in three episodes of Season 4. Logan thought Brooke was "hot." Brooke dumped Mark at the end of the Zoey 101 movie "Chasing Zoey." She said he was not exciting enough.
Gretchen
Gretchen, played by Madison Riley, is messy and lazy. Logan called her Chase's "Zoey replacement." She only appeared in "Goodbye Zoey?". Lola, Quinn, Michael, and Logan all disliked her. Chase hung out with her to forget about Zoey.
Gretchen did many gross things, like picking her nose and spitting. Everyone else found this disgusting, but Chase did not seem to notice. He wanted to believe she was like Zoey. Eventually, he admitted the truth. Even though they looked similar, Gretchen and Zoey had very different personalities.
Vicky
Vicky, played by Miki Ishikawa, was a recurring character in Season 1. Vicky is an Asian-American girl who often talked to Zoey.
Leif
Leif, played by Jarron Vosburg, guided everyone to Red Stone Gulch in "Curse of PCA." He led them there so he could spend more time with Lola because he liked her. Lola and Leif's constant kissing bothered everyone else. Leif was a senior and was said to have graduated but could not get into a good college. He did not appear in any other episode.

Coco Wexler
Coco Wexler, played by Jessica Chaffin, is the girls' dorm advisor. She is sensitive and cries easily. She is often seen eating canned ravioli. She is an emotional wreck much of the time. She often breaks up and gets back together with her boyfriend Carl. During breakups, she cries and talks to the students, especially the girls.
In one episode, a new dean appeared during her breakup. Zoey and her roommates set Coco up on a date with him. Things got complicated when Carl found out. When she gets nervous, she sweats a lot.
Coco later made a surprise appearance in the Sam & Cat episode "#FirstClassProblems." She was waiting for a flight to the Bahamas. Coco revealed she married Carl but later divorced him. Carl was going to marry Coco's mother in the Bahamas.
Dean Rivers
Dean Charles W. Rivers, played by Christopher Murray, is the Dean of PCA. He is married to his demanding wife. He spends a lot of money on video games. He and Zoey often have different ideas about things, like vending machines.
His full name, "Charles W. Rivers," was shown on a sign in "Spring Fling." However, in "Quinn's Alpaca," his wife called him "Carl." He likes lions but was attacked by one in "Fake Roommate." He was also a student at PCA and won the PCA golf tournament as a senior.
Kazu
Kazu, played by Brian Tee, is a Japanese-American from Alabama. He is the manager of PCA's restaurant, Sushi Rox. The restaurant accidentally burned down but was later rebuilt. He first appeared in "Webcam." He later appeared in "People Auction" and "Hot Dean." He also made brief appearances in "Quarantine" and "Quinn Misses the Mark."
Nurse Crocker
Nurse Margeret Crocker, played by Mariah Sussman, appeared in Seasons 3 and 4. She replaced Nurse Krutcher. She is seen taking care of Zoey and Michael several times. She also took care of Zoey in "The Curse of PCA."
Nurse Krutcher
Nurse Francine Krutcher, played by Diane Delano, is the nurse at PCA in Seasons 1 and 2. She is very mean. She does not let sick or hurt students leave. In "The Play," she was shown to be violent. She would pounce on and drag sick students. In "Girls Will Be Boys," it was revealed her husband is in prison.
Mr. Takato
Mr. Takato, played by James Hong, is an old man who taught Michael how to drive a stick shift in "Chasing Zoey." He said he was a lower school math teacher, but no one else knew him. At the end of the movie, he appeared to Michael again. He was riding a water buffalo and wearing a rice hat. Michael asked him to tell his girlfriend, Lisa, that he taught him to drive. But Mr. Takato said he "does not exist" and mysteriously vanished. It is unknown if Mr. Takato is real.
Mr. David H. Bender
Mr. Bender, played by Michael Blieden, is the school's film and tech teacher. David Bender was also a former PCA student and a cheerleader. He was a favorite in Season 1. In one episode, he helped the group get back to PCA after they visited the wrong beach. He also appeared in Season 2. In "Chasing Zoey", his name was announced at the prom. It was also mentioned that Lola babysat his son.
Seamus Finnigan
Seamus Finnigan is PCA's maintenance man. He was Dean Rivers' former classmate at PCA. They competed on the golfing team. He does not like Dean Rivers. He only appeared in "Alone at PCA." He shares a name with a character from Harry Potter.
Malcolm Reese
Malcolm Reese, played by Michael Corbett, is Logan's father. Malcolm lives in Santa Barbara with his assistant, Ciara. He first appeared in Spring Break-Up. He also appeared in "Logan Gets Cut Off."
Ms. Burvich
Ms. Burvich, played by Suzanne Krull, is divorced and assigns rooms at PCA. She appeared in Seasons 2 and 4. She was first seen in "Back to PCA." Nicole broke Ms. Burvich's rare perfume bottles. This made Ms. Burvich hold a grudge against Zoey and Nicole. She refused their request to choose their new roommate.
Her second appearance was in "Fake Roommate." Michael and Logan tried to trick her into thinking Chase was still at PCA. They did not want a new roommate. Her third appearance was in "Rumor of Love." Ms. Burvich introduced Michael and Logan to their new roommate, James Garrett.
Guest stars
Paige Howard
Paige Howard, played by Miranda Cosgrove, appeared once in "Paige at PCA." She seemed to be the smartest young girl on the Pacific coast. She wanted to power the whole campus using "Paige Power" to save energy. Her name also appeared in Chase's phone contacts in "Little Beach Party."
Stacy
Stacy, played by Allison Scagliotti, is a student at PCA. She stole Zoey's backpack idea in the episode "Backpack." Stacy remained Zoey's enemy after that episode.
Keith Finch
Keith Finch, played by Erik Walker, only appeared in "Defending Dustin." He intimidated Dustin after Dustin corrected his mistake in math class. He remained Dustin's enemy after the episode.
Greg
Greg, played by Stephen Lunsford, is a boy who Lisa Perkins dated. He broke up with Lisa when she kissed Michael.
Lance Rivers
Lance Rivers, played by Ben Perry, is the son of Dean Rivers. He cheated to go to a movie premiere with Zoey. Lola and Quinn told Zoey they had a bad feeling about Lance. But Zoey still went to the premiere. Zoey later left Lance in his limo when she realized he was a jerk.
Trisha Kirby
Trisha Kirby, played by Jennette McCurdy, is the "bad girl" in Dustin's grade. She likes to be rude. She was held back in school because of bad grades. She dated Dustin in the episode "Bad Girl". Zoey tried to break them up.
Courtney
Courtney, played by Zoe Keller, is Mark Del Figgalo's ex-girlfriend. Her only appearance was in "Quinn's Date" in Season 1. She accused Mark of "cheating" on her. She caught him on a "date" with Quinn Pensky.
