iCarly is a fun American TV show for teens. It's a teen sitcom starring Miranda Cosgrove, Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Kress, Jerry Trainor, and Noah Munck. The show is about a group of friends who create their own popular web series.

What is iCarly About?

The show follows a teenager named Carly Shay, played by Miranda Cosgrove. She lives with her older brother, Spencer, played by Jerry Trainor. Carly's best friends are Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) and her neighbor Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress).

Carly, Sam, and Freddie become online stars with their web show, also called "iCarly." On their show, they do all sorts of funny things. They have contests, share recipes, help solve problems, and even do random dancing! It's all about their adventures as online celebrities.

  • Carly Shay is a 13-year-old student and the host of the "iCarly" web show. She lives with her older brother Spencer in an Apartment in Seattle. Her best friends are Sam and Freddie. Carly's father works in the US Navy, so she doesn't see him often. She is a good student and gets great grades.
  • Samantha "Sam" Puckett is Carly's best friend and co-host of the web show. She is known for being rebellious and often teases Freddie. Sam loves to eat, and some of her favorite foods are ham, butter cake, and chicken.
  • Fredward "Freddie" Benson is the best friend of Carly and Sam. He is the technical producer for the "iCarly" show, handling all the cameras and equipment. Freddie lives with his mother, Marissa Benson, in the apartment next to Carly and Spencer. He loves technology and is part of his school's technology club. Freddie has had a crush on Carly since the 4th grade. He once saved Carly's life and they even had a short relationship. He also had a relationship with Sam, which was a big change for him.
  • Spencer Shay is Carly's older brother, who is 26 years old. He is single and loves the unique socks made by his friend Socko. Spencer briefly studied law but decided to become an artist instead. He creates many different and interesting sculptures. He even holds two world records! Spencer also loves to make spaghetti tacos.
  • Orenthal "Gibby" Cornelius Gibson is a boy who goes to school with Carly, Sam, and Freddie. He used to often take off his shirt in front of people, but he stopped doing that after season 4. Gibby has a younger brother named Guppy.

Supporting Characters

  • Marissa Benson is Freddie's very protective mother. She often worries about Freddie and watches over her neighbor Spencer because she worries about Carly.
  • Lewbert is the grumpy doorman at Carly and Freddie's apartment building, Bushwell Plaza. He has a large wart on his left cheek and often shouts at people entering the lobby.
  • T-Bo works at "Groovy Smoothie," a popular hangout spot. He is known for trying to sell his food items, like bagels, muffins, and pickled gherkins, on a stick. He appears in many episodes, especially in seasons 2, 3, and 4.
  • Ms. Briggs and Mr. Howard are teachers at Carly's school. Carly and her friends often make jokes about them. Ms. Briggs is known for playing the bagpipes.
  • Guppy is Gibby's younger brother. He looks a lot like Gibby.
  • Nevel Amadeus Papperman is a web-critic who runs a website called nevelocity.com. Millions of people visit his site. Nevel often tries to get revenge on Carly because she once refused to kiss him.
  • Principal Ted Franklin is the principal at Ridgeway Secondary School, where Carly, Sam, and Freddie attend. He is a big fan of the "iCarly" web show.
  • Socko is Spencer's best friend. You never see him in any episodes, but Spencer talks about him often.

Episode List

Crossover Episodes

On August 29th, 2010, Dan Schneider, the creator of iCarly and Victorious, announced that a crossover episode was planned. This special episode, called "iParty with Victorious," aired on June 11th, 2011, in the USA. It brought characters from both shows together for a big party!

Spin-off Series

In November 2012, it was announced that the sixth season of iCarly would be its last. However, the world of iCarly continued with new shows!

  • One planned spin-off was called Gibby. It was going to be about Gibby's life working at a recreational center, but Nickelodeon later decided not to make it.
  • The second spin-off is Sam & Cat. This show is a crossover between iCarly and Victorious. Sam and Cat accidentally meet and decide to start a babysitting company together. The pilot episode was very successful, and Nickelodeon decided to turn it into a full series.
